In anticipation of International Women’s Day 2025, and with the aim of promoting the physical and mental well-being of female faculty members while embracing the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine and the nourishment of traditional Chinese culture, the Women’s Committee of the School of Information and Control Engineering organized a themed wellness event titled“Grace and Vitality: An Elegant Gathering of TCM Wisdom” on the afternoon of February 28. The event was attended by Associate Dean Chen Ping, along with more than 30 female faculty members from the university’s labor union, women’s committee, the School of Chemical Engineering, the School of Materials and Physics, the Sun Yat-sen College, and the host school. The event was chaired by Lei Meng, Director of the School’s Women’s Committee.

On behalf of the School, Associate Dean Chen Ping expressed heartfelt thanks to the university labor union and women’s committee for their long-standing guidance, and to sister units for their care and support. He gave full recognition to the hard work and achievements of all female faculty members over the past year in education, research, talent cultivation, and administrative service. He also extended warm wishes for the upcoming holiday. In addition, he introduced the School’s initiatives to support the growth and development of female faculty and students, detailing the five pillars of this effort: organizational support, funding assurance, quality platforms, enriching activities, and outstanding achievements. These efforts aim to establish a distinctive brand for the School’s Women’s Committee.

The event was filled with joyful laughter and warm camaraderie. Under the guidance of a professional TCM team, participants practicedBaduanjin (Eight Brocades), a traditional Qigong exercise to stretch muscles and harmonize internal energy. TCM experts, taking into account the unique occupational characteristics of teaching staff, provided a systematic overview of wellness knowledge and demonstrated massage techniques for key acupoints such as Fengchi and Jianjing, offering personalized suggestions for constitution-based health regulation. Participants also created their own traditional herbal sachets by scientifically blending ingredients such as mugwort, clove, and patchouli, known for their calming and mood-enhancing effects.

The participants expressed that the event allowed them to experience the preventive philosophy of traditional Chinese medicine in a dynamic yet balanced manner. It not only helped relieve work-related stress but also equipped them with practical self-care skills. Looking ahead, the School’s Women’s Committee will continue to organize high-quality events such as professional development salons, traditional culture workshops, and mental wellness sessions, with the aim of continuously empowering the growth of female faculty members and students.
